I recently purchased the top rated Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3K for a great price on amazon.
It has 3 key features I wanted.
- Shoots 720 HD video
- Has Stereo Mics
- Has 12x Optical Zoom
So far very happy. Here is a Raw test video I shot from my window at work in downtown Hood River, OR.

Recently Oregon jumped on the bandwagon and passed the law prohibiting of talking on the cell phone while driving. The TomTom GPS / Hands Free calling iPhone kit came to the rescue.
The design and thought that went into every aspect of the dock should be praised. From the built in microphone and speaker, Bluetooth pairing, assisted GPS signal boost, audio out and mounting system, it passes the test strongly. Even the little dock connector is spring loaded to allow for easy docking.
Sound quality while driving is solid on my end, the other end said they could hear me just fine although you do get the “You sound like you are in a barrel” comment.
The iPhone TomTom GPS software is also great. Very very simple to use and blows away most gps units because of the responsiveness of the iphone’s touch screen combined with the simple and sweet UI.
Next will be hooking up the dock to my AUX port in my truck to have an all in one GPS, Phone & Media player unit.
The only downside to the dock would be the swivel joint. While it works well, it tends to feel a bit loose and you can hear it rattle a bit when the iPhone is rotated to certain angles.
Overall I would recommend the unit. Even though the price of both dock and software may seem steep at first (around $200 for both), is well worth it considering it’s closeness in price to a GPS stand alone unit combined with the ability to have an all in one device with all in one functionality.
Currently it is back-ordered on most all sites but can be found, for a price, on ebay.
Thumbs up for Pepsi Natural, it is nice to drink a soda and have it taste of real ingredients instead of chemicals. The Kola Nut Extract really came through in a positive way and reminded me of the days when soda was awesome. The glass bottle was the best part. Soda always tastes best from a glass bottle.
The store was selling it for 99 cents, which was a pleasant surprise and kind of blows open the theory that Sugar costs more for the soda makers. I would gladly pay $.99 for 12oz glass bottled soda instead of a bit more for 20oz chemical ridden, bad tasting soda in a plastic bottle.
During the past three years, my tenure at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard has been nothing short of pure excitement, joy and whim.
However, I have decided to spend more tyime with my family and attend to health issues that have recently arisen. I am proud to have been part of such an outstanding team and I wish this organization only the finest in future endeavors.
Please accept this cake as not notification that I am leaving my position with NWT on March 27.

I thought I would do a simple post that shows pics of where I live, Hood River, Oregon. I will update this as I get more cool photos or add a bit more info about the area.
This is looking at Hood River from the Washington side of the river. You can see Mount Hood in the Background and Hood River, in the foreground. Hood River is not named for the River in the front (that is the Columbia) it is named for the river that flows from Mt. Hood to the Columbia River. You can see where the Hood River pours into the Columbia, Middle left.
Took this shot above the Hood River Valley. Mount Hood is on the left, Hood River is on the right, down by the Gorge and Columbia River.
Hood River has a great downtown.
Hood River is located in the Columbia Gorge. It runs from Portland, east down the Columbia River for many miles.
I created this simple photoshop template. It simply lets you print out a template to sketch your website designs out on. It is based on a the 960 grid system. Download and Enjoy.
